When Bolsius acquired Royal Gouda-Apollo in 1983 it seemed the famous Gouda Candle brand was lost for Gouda. Royal Gouda-Appolo was founded in 1958 and had alsmost 150 years of history producing first quality stearinen candles. However the als historical and crafted Bolsius (founded in 1871) continued producing this first class candle, saving the famous brand.
